Three leading bookies suspend betting on Glasgow derby

Three leading bookmakers have suspended taking bets on Sunday’s Glasgow derby.

Last night the odds on a Celtic win came tumbling down on the back of a statement from Ibrox confirming that some players had tested positive with others self-isolating.

Sunday’s match will be one of the biggest gambling events of the weekend but with a high degree of uncertainty over which players might be available Paddy Power, William Hill and Betfair decided to stop taking bets.

Prices taken at 7.15am Wednesday August 25.

Celtic are strong favourites at close to Evens with the other bookmakers which will reflect the bets being placed with the chances of an away win likely to increase of Steven Gerrard is unable to select some of his regulars.

Before they get to Ibrox on Sunday both teams face Europa League play-off ties as they defend leads on the road.

Celtic have the simpler trip with a 90-minute flight to Alkmaar while the Ibrox side face a six hour flight to Armenia, both squads will undergo UEFA testing before they can pick their teams for tomorrow’s match.
