Duncan Castles has claimed that Celtic have reached agreement with Georgis Giakoumakis on a four year contract.
The striker hasn’t played in any of VVV Venlo’s first four matches of the season with the transfer guru claiming that terms have also been agreed between the two clubs.
Georgis Giakoumakis agrees to join Celtic.
Scottish Premiership club to pay VVV-Venlo €2.5m guaranteed fee plus €500,000 of performance-related variables for the Eredivisie’s leading goalscorer. https://t.co/PateAPw6TL pic.twitter.com/rEVxNJWbTJ— Duncan Castles (@DuncanCastles) August 27, 2021
Despite Venlo’s relegation from the Eredivisie Giakoumakis finished as top scorer in the league with 26 goals in 30 appearances.
After arriving last summer from AEK Athens for around £300,000 it seems that the player and club have decided to cash in with his current contract expiring next May.
News of the deal nearing completion comes at the same time as Rubin Kazan and Bordeaux are reported to have tabled bids of £15.4m for Odsonne Edouard.
With four days left in the transfer window it looks like there is still a lot of business to be completed at Celtic.
