Celtic are expecting to sign Georgios Giakoumakis and Jota before the transfer window closes at midnight on Tuesday.

Ange Postecoglou has brought in seven first team players since the transfer window opened with six of them involved in today’s match at Ibrox.

It has been a hectic month for the new Celtic boss to navigate the club into the group stage of the Europa League while coming to terms with a seriously under-strength first team squad.

The sale of Kris Ajer to Brentford has more than covered the arrivals so far with just over 48 hours of activity expected before the transfer window closes.

Back in February David Friel got the exclusive that Neil Lennon was resigning, tonight in The Sun he reports:

CELTIC are close to the double signing of Georgios Giakoumakis and Portuguese winger Jota. The Greek striker is undergoing a medical after agreeing a £2.5million move from VVV-Venlo.

And Benfica are ready to give the green light for Jota to move to Scotland on a season-long loan. Celtic are also expected to have a buy option as they look to get a deal for the 22-year-old over the line.

The Portugal Under-21 cap spent last season on loan at Spanish side Valladolid, making 18 La Liga appearances. But he won’t be part of Benfica’s first-team plans this season and Ange Postecoglou wants him on board.

If Jota’s loan move to Parkhead works out, the fee for the Hoops to buy him at the end of the season would be £6.4million, reports in Portugal suggest.

According to Portuguese outlet Ojogo: “Jota [will] go to Celtic, on a loan with a purchase option of 7.5million euros.”

While those two players may be arriving there could also be departures with Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie both in the final year of their contracts with the Scotland man becoming a free agent in January.

Raising funds from those two leaving the club would give Celtic additional funds for new players- or post a transfer profit when the club was facing its biggest ever turnover of players.
