As far back as Wednesday it was widely reported that Celtic had agreed terms on a deal for Aurelio Buta, it seemed that an official announcement could be made at any time.

On Wednesday night Celtic’s defeat to Midtjylland took the attention, last night the focus switched to Tynecastle and another Celtic set-back.

Meantime the Buta trail appears to have gone cold, or at least on hold. With no confirmation of the transfer it would only be human for the players agent to be keeping an eye out for Plan B, it seems that Turkey could provide a few options.

Turkish site Aspor reports:

Right-back Aurelio Buta , who is also on Fenerbahçe ‘s agenda , entered Galatasaray ‘s transfer list. The yellow and red team will make another right-back transfer due to Omar’s failure and Yedlin’s performance..

Buta is in the final year of his contract at Royal Antwerp, the Belgian side will be keen to turn around a profit to reinvest in their team.

Celtic appeared to quickly conclude the transfer of Kyogo Furuhashi but every other deal has been long, slow and laboured.

The great rebuild has so far consisted of a very raw recruit from Sheffield Wednesday, wingers from Israel and Japan plus a Swedish central defender. It seems that there is no certainty that they will be joined by Buta.
