Steven Gerrard is facing a UEFA testing nightmare today that could leave his squad decimated.

Last night the Ibrox club finally admitted to C*vid issues with positive test results and players in self-isolation.

Rumours of issues inside the club have been rife for over a month but nothing had been announced until last night.

Back on July 24 Clive Tyldesley mentioned players missing from the friendlies against Brighton and Real Madrid without going into detail. On August 7 before facing Dundee United John Lundstram gave the game away by confirming that pre-season preparations had been hampered by C*vid issues.

On Saturday the Daily Record reported Michael Beale saying:

You could probably see that with Ianis and Scott Wright so we’ve been assessing them over the last 48 hours. That’s where Jordan Millsom and his department really come in to get people back on the pitch.

There’s a lot going on with the squad that’s background noise. We’re managing one or two things that people won’t be aware of.

But that’s fine. That happens at all times of the season. This is where other members of staff that people don’t see so much show their qualities, rehabbing these players and getting them back on the pitch.

Faced with testing from UEFA today the Ibrox club finally went public last night admitting that they have positive tests, two days after their stars shared coach travel to and from Dingwall.

UEFA testing is carried out by SYNLAB who don’t have any VIP testing facilities in East Belfast.

With a charter flight booked to fly to Armenia today everyone on the six hour flight is going to be a close contact. Everyone that shared a coach to Dingwall could come up positive in the UEFA tests. Further tests will be carried out after the match.

This morning as they choose their squad for the flight to Yerevan Gerrard and the hierarchy will have to decide who they can risk sending into a UEFA test and who has to be left out with a slight knock before making a full recovery to face Celtic at noon on Sunday.
