Graham Spiers has hit out at the Ibrox media policy that has given the red carpet to fan media outlets willing to pay out £25,000 to ask prearranged questions to Mister Gerrard.

Most questions start with ‘Hi Steven’ or ‘Good Morning Steven’ followed by a nice cosy question for the Ibrox boss to answer.

Over the last few years, under Jim Traynor and Dave Graham, anyone going rogue has found access for their publication restricted in order to ensure that the right message is delivered to readers.

In a rare show of resistance almost all newspapers have stood firm against the £25,000 charge but despite being handed dramatic quotes from John Lundstram all have shied away from the pandemic miracle at Ibrox.

Last night the post-mortem was left to Mark Dingwall and David Edgar with nothing of substance asked to Gerrard following a third successive defeat.

While the questioning was poor it was an improvement on the famous 4-1 defeat from Unirea Urziceni in 2009.

After a few questions from Chic Young for BBC Scotland not a single reporter had the courage to ask Walter Smith a single question.

In 1998 Spiers joined Traynor in Jersey for a weekend jolly to celebrate Dave Murray’s 10th anniversary as Rangers owner. The phrase succulent lamb first surfaced following dinner with Dave.
