While Ange Postecoglou’s side are rampaging through Scottish football they are also guilty of becoming one of the dirtiest teams in the country.

Refereed yesterday by Willie Collum, Celtic were five times as likely to commit a foul as their opponents. This with 74% of possession. That was a slight improvement however on last week against Hearts, with John Beaton in charge Celtic were eight times more likely to foul that Robbie Neilson’s side.

Celtic v St Mirren

Possession 74%- 26%

Shots 37-3

Shots on target 12-1

Corners 15-0

Fouls 18-10

Assuming that the ball was in play for 70 minutes Celtic were in possession for 51 minutes and 48 seconds leaving Saints with the ball for the remaining 18 minutes and 12 seconds.

Ange Postecoglou made good use of their time on the ball, putting away 37 shots, 12 on target, scoring six goals an earning 15 corners.

Fair to say that the hoops were well on top, incredibly they also seem to have been guilty of an awful lot of fouling.

While St Mirren had the ball they were getting fouled every minute! In contrast Celtic were fouled every five minutes that they were in possession.

Despite sending off Alan Power while David Turnbull received treatment no additional time was played in the first half.
