Bitter, bitter man- Today proved how much damage we inflicted on Kris Boyd

Kris Boyd’s incredible personal attack on Leigh Griffiths shocked many as the Mental Health Charity campaigner lost the plot in the pages of The Sun.

The last decade has been tough for the former Portland Timbers star goal-netter but no-one fully understood just how deep the scars of Celtic’s success had impacted Boydy.

Last season he got a reprieve but as he tried to establish a career in the media he had to try and keep a lid on his deep hatred of Celtic.

Over 200 goals in Scottish football included just one against Celtic with the record breaker regularly reminded of that stat as his career petered out during a third spell at Kilmarnock.

Griffiths seems to have struck a particular nerve for the Sun columnist. In January 2020 Griffiths picked out the chunky pundit after scoring for Celtic in a win at Kilmarnock as Celtic struck form to clinch 9-in-a-row for the second time.

Boyd was flustered and rattled by that incident, his post match comments on Sky Sports were all over the place as he tried to justify his vendetta against Griffiths.

The 31-year-old has little backing or sympathy from Celtic fans but the depths that Boyd hit today won’t be forgotten with the pain of green and white success clearly something that the Ayrshireman struggles to cope with.
