Celtic made three statements yesterday to Companies House following Friday’s reshuffle.

There was a termination for Dom McKay as a director plus a termination for Michael Nicholson as secretary alongside his appointment as a director.

Those plain statements record what was a weekend of turmoil and guessing work as the club undergoes a massive turnover in key roles.

On the pitch there is a new captain in Callum McGregor alongside 12 new players managed by Ange Postecoglou. Off it the club seems short on bodies with an acting CEO, no replacement for Nick Hammond as Head of Football Operations and speculation over a Director of Football to bridge the gap between the football pitch and the boardroom. In the background Gordon Strachan is halfway through a review of various aspects of the club’s operations.

Announcing Nicholson’s promotion to become a director the club informed Companies House that:

The company confirms that the person named has consented to act as a director

The overview provides blunt details of McKay’s brief reign with a two page announcement on July 1 followed yesterday with a single page notice of termination.

Speculation over the reasons for the changes won’t go away but with the transfer window closed the need to resolve the recruitment side of the club isn’t as intense as it was a month ago.

Postecoglou seems unfussed by Friday’s changes but a clear definition of roles will surely be advantageous going into the January transfer window with more selective action after the 12 summer signings.
