With Celtic languishing in mid-table in the SPFL- behind Motherwell and Dundee United amongst others- someone within the club has been tasked with drumming up interest in Thursday’s Premier Sports Cup tie against Raith Rovers.
For whatever reason the key attraction will be the disco lights installed during the summer of 2018 just as the success built by Brendan Rodgers started to unravel.
Rather than strike a deal with Hibs for John McGinn the grandson of a former Celtic chairman left for Aston Villa. Free agent Youssouf Mulumbu was brought in followed by Andrew Gutman, Manny Perez, Vakoun Bayo and Marian Shved in the January transfer window. Rodgers left before the end of February.
At the time the disco lights were promoted as another exciting feature for those big Champions League nights at Celtic Park. Since losing to AEK Athens it has been four seasons of Thursday night Europa League football under the lights.
Goodwill to Ange Postecoglou remains strong but the feel-good factor created by his appointment and a new CEO has been eroded over the last few weeks.
The reality of the squad left Postecoglou with three empty seats on the substitute bench last week away to Real Betis, losing at Livingston suggested that nothing has really moved on with 7,000 fans badly let-down in the first away day for 18 months.
? It’s time to get Paradise rocking again! ?
As the darker nights descend on Glasgow, we are bringing back the disco lights as the Hoops take on @RaithRovers on Thursday – tickets still available ??#PremierSportsCup | #COYBIG ?

That’s an incredible post from a football club. It exposes the disconnect between the PLC board & the supporters. We’ve always come to Celtic Park for the ‘pure, beautiful, inventive football’ that Stein brought us & which Ange promises. But the PLC are promoting disco lights. ????

How about having a forward thinking board, a manager who gets to sign his own players and picks his own backroom team, sack the board????

Any chance we can get our money back for the “disco lights “? When they are rolled out as a selling point for raith rovers , we know we are in trouble

You really are scraping the barrel to find things to complain about. Best support in the world. Really not based on this article
Why doesn’t someone there realise that if we wanted Disco Lights we’d go to a ****** disco.
If we want football we go to a football park.
Time Kennedy and Strachan cleared their desks . There has been zero benefit keeping them . if they were any good Brendan Rogers would have taken them to Leicester, bet he was glad to get away from them.
