Charlie Adam is standing by his claim that Odsonne Edouard is a £5m striker despite Crystal Palace splashing out £14m on the Frenchman.
Three weeks ago the Dundee midfield general was sharing his expertise with viewers to Peter Martin’s PLZ Show.
According to Adam, Edouard would only attract offers of £5m after an indifferent start to the season with his contract expiring in June 2022.
Last night Crystal Palace paid £14m to Celtic with a further £4m reported in potential add-ons. It is similar to the fee that Celtic brought in from selling Kris Ajer to Brentford in July.
Rather than admit that he got it spectacularly wrong Adam claimed that he had actually suggested a fee of £5-8m. Better than that he seemed to think that the 40% cut for Paris Saint Germain over £9m would take Celtic’s fee to closer to his claim. 40% of £5m is £2m meaning that Celtic can bank £12m from the Edouard deal- a fair bit more than the £5m or £8m predicted by the Dundee ace.
?BREAKING: Odsonne Edouard has agreed a five-year deal with Crystal Palace.
The fee for the Celtic striker is around £14m and could rise to £18.5m, with PSG due a significant sell-on clause?
