The transfer know-how of Charlie Adam has reached the social media team at Crystal Palace.
Trying his best to break into the world of media work while he runs down his playing career at Dundee the chunky midfielder knows that comment, preferably negative, about Celtic always goes down well.
The fervour to talk up ‘Crisis at Celtic’ was in full flow through the pre-season and around the Champions League defeat from Midtjylland. Egged on by Peter Martin on his PLZ show Adam claimed that the value of Odsonne Edouard had dipped to £5m.
Less than a fortnight after the extra-time defeat in Denmark Celtic stuffed Dundee 6-0, Adam was substituted after 60 minutes, barely noticed by the Celtic fans. This week Crystal Palace paid £14m for Edouard, almost three times the value that Adam had put on the striker.
The man in the middle, Edouard is probably oblivious to all this. Even with his striking features it is unlikely that the Frenchman would be able to pick out Adam in an identity parade.
With his medal collection and memories of big match goals the Frenchman can look forward to the next stage of his playing career as Adam competes with Kris Boyd, Alex Rae, Chris Burke and Richard Foster for those cherished pundit gigs.
