The Daily Record has reported the arrest of a Celtic B team player in connection with a fatal hit and run in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Social media was rife with suggestions of who was involved, late on Sunday Police Scotland announced that a 19-year-old had been arrested and questioned.
The Daily Record has narrowed that group down to 15 people with all of them now under suspicion.
Just before 1pm today they reported:
A Celtic B Team player has been arrested in connection with the alleged hit and run death of teenager Aidan Pilkington. Aidan was killed after being hit by a car on Crow Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Tributes were paid to the ‘well-loved’ 18-year-old who was due to move to Dundee to go to university. Police confirmed a 19-year-old had been arrested in connection with the incident, and had been released pending further inquiries.
We can now confirm that the teenager arrested is an active player for Celtic’s B Team and played in their victory over Gala Fairydean Rovers a few days ago. His profile remains on the club’s website today as part of their reserves squad.
Aidan was struck by a car at about 12.20am on Crow Road, and was rushed to hospital where he tragically passed away.
Celtic B didn’t have a match at the weekend, their next match is scheduled for September 24 away to Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood.
