‘Get rid of Ange’ ‘Sack the board’ ‘Big Ange out of his depth big time’ Heat is on Postecoglou as fans mood turns

The pressure is mounting on Ange Postecoglou as the public face of a badly failing Celtic side.

A home draw against Dundee United means that it is 11 points dropped from seven SPFL matches with the early season excitement over Ange-ball as good as extinguished before Kevin Clancy blew the final whistle on today’s 1-1 draw,

A lengthening injury list provides some mitigating circumstances but there was no plastic pitch today with Dundee United worthy of their point even if Celtic can point to three efforts off the woodwork.

Whether he likes it or not Postecoglou is the public face of Celtic, he opted to take up an offer from a board of directors who seem more interested in producing profit from a transfer window than putting a team on the park capable of winning football matches.

After a long courtship with Eddie Howe that proved to be fruitless Celtic turned to Asia and a man that hadn’t been near European football for a decade.

Rather than back Postecoglou up he was sent into Champions League qualifiers with the addition of a teenage winger from Israel.

Liel Abada scored today and has looked good value but after years of neglect Postecoglou is holding the baby and responsible for results on a weekly basis.

The CEO that recruited him has retired, the one that he worked with through the transfer window has stepped down leaving Postecoglou with a Chairman that thinks finishing second in a two horse race is one of the highlights of the year.

Howe didn’t want his reputation tarnished by going to Celtic, now Postecoglou has the task of sorting out a multitude of failings with a squad ruddled by injury and looking for some magic from players that have still to find their feet let alone deliver success.
