Ianis Hagi is poised for a £17m January move to Roma.

The Ibrox playmaker has been closely watched by Real Madrid, Manchester City and Spurs but it seems that he is destined for the Italian capital to link up with Jose Mourinho.

It seems that the Romanian based Hagi Media Centre is the source of the story with absolutely nothing in his two SPFL appearances this season to suggest that Gheorge’s boy is worth £1.7m.

Eager to share exciting news with their army of readers the Daily Record reports:

Reports in Romania claim that Ianis Hagi is close to sealing a £17million January switch to Roma. The Rangers playmaker was linked with the likes of Lazio and Sevilla over the summer but ultimately remained at Ibrox.

After a spell on the sidelines due to Covid, Hagi came off the bench to put in a star turn against Livingston on Wednesday night.

However, according to both Pro TV and Sport in his homeland, the 22-year-old could be set for the exit door. It’s claimed Serie A giants Roma have agreed a €20million (£17m) fee to sign Hagi in January.

Hagi has already had a brief spell in Italy with Fiorentina before being found out and returned to Romania.

After joining Gent in the summer of 2019 he was sent on loan to Ibrox in the next transfer window before a permanent move was arranged last summer.

During the summer transfer window Ross Wilson managed to ship out Jordan Jones and George Edmundson to Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town.

Since replacing Mark Allen two years ago the maximum fee raised by Wilson was the £185,000 that Hull City paid for Greg Docherty.
