As transfer guru Ross Wilson raced around trying to find any takers for his over-rated duds, Ibrox fans grasped onto a rumour that their club was going to BUY someone!

The Morelos to Porto yarn died before it got off the ground, Juventus sold Ronaldo but didn’t turn to Glen Kamara as a replacement, Leeds United signed Dan James despite ‘tracking’ Ryan Kent for two years and Jose Mourinho kicked Roma’s interest in Borna Barisic into touch. Etc, etc.

Into the void came the Kevin Nisbet rumour. With Wilson trying to raise £20m to make up for the failure to beat Malmo some Ibrox fans bought into the notion that their tribute act were about to spend £5m on a striker at Hibs.

Reality intervened, even the Daily Record knew the score with Nisbet:

Kevin Nisbet has been linked with a move with Celtic all summer – but according to Twitter, he is now a Rangers target.

The Hibs striker was the subject of interest from Swansea City but the Welsh side were told Hibs want nothing less than £5million.

That was that, then. Today, Nisbet has been linked with a move with the Scottish champions, who have already been shorn of Cedric Itten.

The Swiss striker may have been sent out on loan but Rangers are not believed to be replacing him. Certainly not with the Easter Road goal machine.

Dave King is due repayment on his £5m loan by the end of October, if he is repaid the £3.2m interest free loan from the Scottish Government also has to be repaid.

Three match Europa League packages are available to loyal bears, for just £117 they can see Moussa Dembele at Ibrox followed by visits from Brondby and Sparta Prague (£39 per skull).
