Ibrox international star returns positive test

Ianis Hagi is the latest Ibrox star to return a positive test for C*vid 19. It’s believed that the test wasn’t conducted through an elite lab in east Belfast.

The international starlet is currently with the Romanian national side but will now have to sit out Saturday’s match away to St Johnstone and the Europa League opener against Lyon.

Hagi has been in and out of Steven Gerrard’s side since the start of the season with stringent UEFA testing throwing up a number of positive tests although the club hasn’t named any player testing positive.

Nathan Patterson played in the Europa League tie away to Alashkert, travelled back to Scotland with his team-mates then was left out of the Glasgow derby three days later and pulled out of the Scotland squad that flew to Denmark.

Last season the Ibrox side got through the season without an in-house positive test, without having a player sent off in a domestic match with the first penalty awarded against them coming in stoppage time in match 34 at St Johnstone.

In contrast six players and Steven Gerrard were left out of the trip to Alashkert where they would be subject to UEFA testing, in their last five UEFA matches Kemar Roofe, Leon Balogun and John Lundstram have all been sent off.
