Ange Postecoglou thinks that Jota will be OK despite suffering an ankle injury late on in the 3-0 win over Raith Rovers.

After adding Giorgos Giakoumakis and Mikey Johnston to the lengthy injury list the last thing that Celtic need is an injury to their on loan Benfica winger.

The Scotsman reports:

The Celtic manager admitted he was forced to keep Jota on the pitch despite the wide man hobbling towards the end.

‘I think Jota’s OK,” said Postecoglou of the player whose ankle was strapped up post-match as he lamented that “there is something looming over me at the minute, to challenge me every day” in seeing players go down like flies with Callum McGregor, Kyogo Furuhashi, James Forrest and Greg Taylor sidelined in recent weeks.

Jota opened the scoring last night when he showed a cool head to net from a brilliant James McCarthy pass through the Raith defence.

Soon after he was turning provider with his shot parried into the path of Liel Abada who nodded the ball past Jamies MacDonald into the net.

In just four matches since his Deadline Day move Jota has brought a fresh dimension to Celtic’s creative play, if he can score with the poise shown last night he could have a priceless contribution to make in the coming weeks.

Postecoglou will be hoping that there are no fresh knocks from last night’s match as he prepares for three matches in eight days before the October international break.
