Luca Connell is set to return on loan to Queens Park.

More than two years after his move from Bolton Wanderers the midfielder has still to play in a competitive match for Celtic, this season he hasn’t made a match-day squad under Ange Postecoglou and was left out of his squad for the Europa League group stage matches.

Last season Connell took the chance to shine with an 11 match loan spell at Queens Park, making a big impression and helping the Spiders to win the League Two title.

After Ray McKinnon left in the summer Queens promoted from within, allowing Laurie Ellis to step up to become first team coach.

With substantial financial backing Queens are sitting at the top of the League One table but with Falkirk, Airdrie and Cove Rangers chasing for automatic promotion the return of Connell will strengthen their chase for back-to-back promotions.

Connell signed a four year Celtic contract in 2019 on the back of 12 appearances for Bolton in The Championship.
