Ange Postecoglou has admitted that he doesn’t have a timeline for Chris Jullien’s return to action.

The defender was injured in the final match of 2020 when he collided with a goalpost with the initial analysis expecting a three or four month absence.

Last week Jullien was named in Celtic’s 25-man Europa League squad but it looks like it will be the latter games, if any, that he will be back in contention for.

Postecoglou has had to rebuild his defence without the Frenchman, speaking to The Herald the Celtic boss said:

He’s getting closer but he hasn’t trained with the group yet but he’s out there every day and from looking at him he can’t wait to get back involved. Hopefully over the next couple of months we’ll see him slowly get back into the team.

I think he’s got a bit of presence about him. Even though he’s not training with us he’s still fairly influential around the group. But he’ll want to get out there and contribute first of all.

Since Jullien last played for Celtic Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers have been brought to the club with that combination playing 90 minutes together against Ross County at the weekend.

With Stephen Welsh competing strongly for a starting place Celtic are well covered at the moment but the return of Jullien would be a significant boost in creating competition for places.
