The absence of Giorgos Giakoumakis wasn’t the only shock for Celtic fans last night as the hoops beat Raith Rovers to book a Premier Sports Cup semi-final place against St Johnstone.
Mikey Johnston made a 20 minute substitute appearance against Livingston on Sunday but failed to make the bench for last night’s win over Raith.
Ange Postecoglou says Giakoumakis will have a scan after injuring his calf in Celtic’s warm up tonight. Mikey Johnston out again after picking up an injury in training. Outside chance of Callum McGregor being back for next Thursday’s Europa League tie.

It may just be a run of extreme bad luck but Celtic’s medical team seem incapable of getting Johnston fit for any sort of run of matches.
A pre-season injury against Bristol City on July 14 ruled the 22-year-old out for more than two months before his stint off the bench at Livingston.
Since being injured away to St Johnstone in January 2020 Celtic’s medical team have toiled to get to the root of the issue.
A return of sorts last December saw Johnston score in the Scottish Cup Final shoot out win over Hearts but he was again out injured between February 2 and May 2.
Wingers Jota and Liel Abada were both on the scoresheet last night but the return of Johnston and James Forrest is badly needed for the hectic schedule of matches ahead.
