A ninth person has been arrested in relation to anti-Irish racism being sung on the streets of Glasgow on August 29.

Hundreds of Ibrox fans were given a police escort along Argyle Street with one video clip quickly going viral.

Eleven days after the incident a ninth fan has been arrested despite extensive CCTV coverage throughout the city centre with the ultra group Union Bears believed to be involved.

The Sun reports:

The teen, who is the ninth person nicked in connection with the alleged racist chanting, has been released on an undertaking. He will appear in court at a later date and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A further man, aged 18, has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged singing of racist material in Glasgow on Sunday, August 29.

“The man has been released on an undertaking and is due to appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Since 1 September, this brings the total number of arrests to nine

There has been no comment from the SFA or SPFL about the city centre scenes or chanting of The Billy Boys inside Ibrox Stadium.

In 2019 UEFA twice closed parts of Ibrox for Europa League ties following racist chanting from home supporters.
