He didn’t mention any club or individual but in three words rubbed salt into some very raw wounds around Ibrox.

With Walker already banned from working for a broadcaster at Ibrox Sutton and Neil Lennon joined him on the naughty step after the latest stunt from the Blue Room of unsurpassed dignity.

Early on Thursday afternoon BT Sport were informed that the safety of two pundits couldn’t be guaranteed, on those grounds their plans for a double-header of Europa League football were sunk.

While Lennon is something of a novice at the media game Sutton can count on BBC 5 Live, the and Daily Record as regular outlets, bringing him the sort of respect that cheerleaders like Neil McCann, and Mark Hateley will never achieve.

Yesterday’s decision puts the spotlight on BT Sport for their future coverage. In two weeks time there will likely be some Ibrox related pundits based at the Celtic v Bayer Leverkusen Europa League tie.

The big question for the broadcaster will come on October 21 when Brondby visit Ibrox. Will Sutton and Lennon be on duty or will the BT team be decided by Stewart Robertson.
