The Postecoglou/ Strachan rumour

A couple of Twitter accounts have suggested that Gordon Strachan could be on stand-by to take over as Celtic manager.

Three months is a very short tenure for a football manager but Celtic recently lost a CEO after just 72 days in the job.

Over the last 10 days there has been a downturn in results and performances at Celtic with the fears expressed when Ange Postecoglou was appointed resurfacing. At today’s media conference the Australian was in combative mood as he tackled the condescending nature of some of the questioning.

There is nothing of substance to back up the rumours but in the days before Dom McKay left his job as CEO there were a couple of tweets suggesting that change was brewing.

A win against Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow night would kill speculation stone dead but with Gordon Strachan employed as a consultant with two sons on the payroll he’d be the obvious caretaker option if Postecoglou was to leave for any reason.

Since being promoted to acting CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t conducted a single interview although he did contribute to the club’s Annual Report just 10 days after McKay’s departure.
