Tough to take- Sutton nails it over Celtic’s collapse against Betis

|

Chris Sutton provided a perfect summary of Celtic’s 4-3 defeat away to Real Betis.

The former hoops striker was refused permission to work from Ibrox tonight, losing a shift from BT Sport but was still able to give an assessment of that match that will chime with  most Celtic fans.

For 25 minutes it looked fantastic- Albian Ajeti and Josip Juranovic had put Celtic 2-0 in front but by the 35th minute mark the Spaniards were back on level terms with two heavily preventable goals.

Ten minutes into the second half Celtic were trailing by two goals with the hosts looking capable of scoring at any moment.

With James McCarthy for Ismaila Soro the only substitution made Tony Ralston gave Celtic a flicker of hope in the 86th minute from a header but there wasn’t to be a dramatic equaliser.

Celtic have lost four goals in each of their last three away matches in the Europa League- as consolation there is an element of hope that Ange Postecoglou is taking things on board, working towards solutions rather than Neil Lennon’s excuses of last season.
