Barry Ferguson was involved in an amazing confrontation with an Alloa fan following the 1-1 draw at Dumbarton.

During the week the former Kelty Hearts boss can be found as a mild mannered pundit sharing suggestions on how Celtic could be better managed.

The Daily Record and Go Radio pay for Ferguson’s opinions. Whenever things are going badly at Ibrox he likes to draw on recollections of an old-fashioned free for all after training or how a night or two on the bevvy built morale in the dressing room.

After three seasons in The Championship Alloa were expected to be among the front runners to win promotion from League One but with just 11 points from eight matches they are stuck in fifth place behind leaders Queens Park.

Ferguson had a miserable couple of seasons managing Clyde before being handed a massive budget to get Kelty promoted into the SPFL. With that achieved he joined Alloa who have been well coached by Jack Ross, Jim Goodwin and Peter Grant in recent seasons.

The old school methods enjoyed by Ferguson don’t seem to be having the desired effect with fans calling for his head before today’s altercation with a fan which saw assistant referee Graeme Stewart try to restrain the Alloa hot-head.

How can he be a good manager anywhere when he spends most of his time talking about Sevco on radio shows and podcasts or writing about them in newspapers ?
