Rocco Vata played his part as Ireland’s u-17 side that beat Mexico 2-1 last night in a friendly at Turners Cross in Cork. The two sides will face each other again tomorrow.
The Celtic forward has plenty of international options, with an Albanian Dad and Scottish Mum he opted to play for the country of his Gran with the FAI happy to oblige.
Vata has made a big impact on Celtic’s B side this season, at the age of 16 he has had no difficulty coping with the physical side of the Lowland League.

On Saturday Celtic had to face Morton without Vata with Tommy McIntyre’s side losing 3-1 in the SPFL Trust Trophy.
It was a much changed Celtic side due to a variety of reasons. Recent signings Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide were given 90 minutes but will miss out on Wednesday when the Celtic B team take on Gala Fairydean in the Lowland League.
