James Forrest and Chris Jullien are unlikely to play for Celtic this month.

The duo are among the most experienced players at the club, alongside Callum McGregor they are the only survivors from the side that beat Lazio home and away two years ago with Jullien scoring the winner at home and Forrest netting in Rome.

Bar five appearances from Forrest Ange Postecoglou has had to get by without those two players with his rebuild exaggerated in their absence.

Forrest made his last appearance in the home win against AZ Alkmaar on August 18 with no definite timeline for when he will be back in action.

Speaking to the Daily Record Postecoglou said:

They are on different trajectories. James is working hard and we’re hopeful he makes significant progress over the next two or three weeks.

Jullien is back training with the team, which is really important. It’s very challenging when you are doing your rehab by yourself for a long period of time.

He’s back with the team but he’ll need a good three or four weeks to get back up to speed. His progress will be a lot quicker now he’s with the group and knows everything he needs to do to be able to play.

Mikey Johnston is added to the squad that won at Aberdeen for today’s match but after a full fortnight of training James McCarthy and Giorgos Giakoumakis should be in better condition to make a contribution.
