Chris Jullien’s Celtic comeback put on hold

Chris Jullien is still some way off returning to action with no timescale set for the Frenchman.

Ange Postecoglou has spoken optimistically about the Frenchman in recent weeks but Video Celts understands that Jullien is highly unlikely to play this month.

After undergoing knee surgery the defender returned to France to work on his rehab before re-joining Celtic in June for pre-season training.

So far Jullien has only been working in the gym with his knee still to be tested by running. After nine months without playing the club and player will be taking things very carefully once the 28-year-old starts running followed by joining in with first team training.

Discussing the injuries to Jullien and James Forrest, last week Postecoglou told the Daily Record:

They both have that experience and nous. That’s why it will be great to get them back because they can help us through this challenging period.

It’s hard to say exactly when they’ll be back. Chris has been working in rehab and we’re hopeful that he’ll start team training after the international break.

A return at some stage in November seems more realistic with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Car Starfelt and Stephen Welsh competing for places with Nir Bitton and Liam Scales as additional options.
