Connor Goldson has revealed that contract talks for a new Ibrox deal have halted.

The defender is still on the same terms as he agreed in 2018 when he joined the Gerrard Revolution from Brighton.

Since then team-mates such as Kemar Roofe and John Lundstrum have agreed contracts believed to be paying £40,000 per week with the clock now ticking down on Goldson’s deal.

Last season Goldson played in every minute of every match but that loyalty hasn’t been rewarded with a contract that the former Shrewsbury starlet can sign up to.

Asked about ongoing contract talks, the Daily Record reports Goldson saying:

No, I haven’t heard anything. I haven’t really spoken to my agent or the club recently so I couldn’t tell you where it’s at but I’m just focused on the club, playing football and making sure this club wins

With Filip Helander out with a long term injury and Nicky Katic on loan to Hadjuk Split Goldson is the man holding Steven Gerrard’s central defence together.

Allan McGregor, Steve Davis and Scott Arfield are also into the final eight months of their contracts. Goldson will be 29 in December, in January he can sign a pre-contract deal with a non-Scottish club.
