Kyogo Furuhashi has reported fit and well for international duty.

The striker suffered a knee injury against China last month sparking fear and panic that he could be on the sidelines for an extended period.

Albian Ajeti never really carried much of a threat in the Celtic side but last Thursday Kyogo was back to lead the line against Bayer Leverkusen.

Only an outstanding performance from Lukas Hradecky denied the striker a scoring return but he quickly made amends with the opening goal in Celtic’s 2-1 win over Aberdeen.

Celtic fans face an anxious wait scanning for news of Kyogo during the international break but he told The Sun that he has made a complete recovery:

There is no problem at all now with my knee and for that, I must thank the people at my club for their cooperation and support so that I have been able to return quickly. I am grateful for them.

I know there has been a lot of talk about what is my best position for Japan. In my opinion, it’s important not to just stick to a fixed position, If you can play your own way and do your own thing, it can be good for the team.

What matters is not where I play, but collecting wins for Japan in two very important games for us. Personally, I enjoy this kind of pressure. I can only hope I can contribute to the team by doing the best I can and playing well. Hopefully, it will help us go a long way to qualifying for the World Cup.

With Kyogo and Ajeti away on international duty Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that both strikers return unharmed for next Saturday’s match against Motherwell.

Giorgos Giakoumakis is training at Lennoxtown, looking to build up his fitness with just 15 minutes playing time so far this season.

Japan are away to Saudi Arabia today then host Australia on Tuesday, October 12.
