Hartson looks for Celtic statement to clear the noise

John Hartson has urged the Celtic hierarchy to come out with a statement in support of Ange Postecoglou.

Communication from the club tends to be at a bare minimum, Dom McKay’s exit brought a club statement while Ian Bankier thought that finishing second in the SPFL proved that Celtic were in good hands as he explained to shareholders in the annual report.

Postecoglou is coming up for four months in the job as manager. Without bringing in any coaches or backroom staff he appears isolated with the recruitment structure of the club still something of a mystery.

Of the new players brought in over the summer Kyogo Furuhashi has made the biggest impact and is clearly the choice of the Celtic manager.

Who was the driving force behind other signings is difficult to know with recruits coming in from Israel, Holland and Russia as well as from the English market.

Sunday’s win at Aberdeen keeps the storm clouds at bay but doubts remain over a number of issues and areas of the club.

Picking up on his appearance on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports Hartson saying:

I do think there should be a statement coming out from Celtic to say ‘we’re in transition, we’ve had to build a whole new team, we’ve made a lot of changes, and we’re behind Ange.’

Whether or not they’re telling him that internally (I don’t know) but I just feel as if that would stop a lot of the noise about Celtic.

In January we’re maybe going to strengthen. Give him another window or two more windows. He’ll be feeling pressure and I just feel that would help the cause.

Postecoglou appears to have identified transfer targets from the J League, with three months before the transfer window opens business should be less frantic than during the summer.
