With 17,000 followers SPFL banter has credibility across Scottish football, it isn’t partisan or reliant on one set of supporters.
Sticking up for the wee clubs is a laudable goal but not when you are following lazy mainstream generalisations.
On Saturday they decided to go with the ‘Motherwell denied a stonewaller’ followed by a conspiracy suggestion then lumping together ‘the big two’.
The incident that they were referring to was the handball incident involving Boli Bolingoli, one that was prominent in the tea-time headlines from the mainstream outlets as they reacted to Saturday’s matches, five 3pm kick-offs including the mythical big two.
Fans watched the match on streams from Motherwell TV and Celtic TV, afterwards Celtic fans started to look into the incident in more detail while the message was put out that Celtic ‘had got away with one’.
With just two camera angles available the throw in from the left is controlled by the left arm of Kevin van Veen before it strikes the right hand of Bolingoli.
It might just be SPFL Banter but with VAR on the way incidents like Saturday at Motherwell will come under greater scrutiny than ever.
Motherwell had an absolute stonewaller denied v Celtic today… never buy into the conspiracies as you know but it always seems harder to get the calls against the ‘big two’

Motherwell player handled first and it was knocked onto his hand from a foot away, impossible to get his hand out the way.

How can it be stonewall when the Motherwell player handled it first? I would say the attempted leg breaking challenge on Turnbull was far more of a talking point…

Did they?
Is an opposition players prior hand ball in the box, not a foul these days.
Like the last stonewaller that wasn’t given against Celtic, which ignores the prior foul.
Red for foul on Turnbull, your Comments!
I’m all for VAR, but not with these incompetent running it.— Joe (@JGS1888) October 18, 2021
Did u watch the stone Waller correct ? Clearly Motherwell player plays with hand before Celtic player does

Celtic had an absolute stonewall handball v Motherwell today… always buy into the conspiracies as you know but it always seems easier to get the calls if you are Rangers.

Yesterday watching it live I agreed with you. Watching it back today it’s clear the ball was first handled and controlled by the Motherwell boy. If VAR was a thing it would have been a free kick to Celtic.
