With 17,000 followers SPFL banter has credibility across Scottish football, it isn’t partisan or reliant on one set of supporters.

Sticking up for the wee clubs is a laudable goal but not when you are following lazy mainstream generalisations.

On Saturday they decided to go with the ‘Motherwell denied a stonewaller’ followed by a conspiracy suggestion then lumping together ‘the big two’.

The incident that they were referring to was the handball incident involving Boli Bolingoli, one that was prominent in the tea-time headlines from the mainstream outlets as they reacted to Saturday’s matches, five 3pm kick-offs including the mythical big two.

Fans watched the match on streams from Motherwell TV and Celtic TV, afterwards Celtic fans started to look into the incident in more detail while the message was put out that Celtic ‘had got away with one’.

With just two camera angles available the throw in from the left is controlled by the left arm of Kevin van Veen before it strikes the right hand of Bolingoli.

It might just be SPFL Banter but with VAR on the way incidents like Saturday at Motherwell will come under greater scrutiny than ever.
