It’s difficult to have a timeline- Ange delivers grim injury update

Ange Postecoglou admits that he can’t give a timeline on when he will be able to select James Forrest or Chris Jullien.

Forrest has started five matches this season but hasn’t been in action for over a month while Jullien hasn’t played any football in 2021.

Postecoglou’s grand plans for changing Celtic have been hampered by injuries but it doesn’t look like he’ll be getting two of the club’s most experienced players back any time soon.

Asked about Forrest and Jullien, the Celtic boss told the Daily Record:

They both have that experience and nous. That’s why it will be great to get them back because they can help us through this challenging period.

It’s hard to say exactly when they’ll be back. Chris has been working in rehab and we’re hopeful that he’ll start team training after the international break.

James is a bit different. He had a minor setback and we just haven’t been able to get him up and running. It’s difficult to have a timeline on it. My initial thoughts were he wouldn’t be too long but it’s become a bit stretched out now.

We have to be guided by him and how the injury heals. He’s a player I felt would make a significant contribution. Obviously, that hasn’t happened.

Forrest played with a broken bone in his foot at the start of last season, after it was detected the initial diagnosis was that he would be missing for three months but that turned out to be a six month absence.

Postecoglou seems to have inherited these problems and more with full-backs Greg Taylor and Josip Juranovic among the absentees at Aberdeen today.
