John McGinn: Another classic Tom English tweet

When it comes to football judgement Tom English has a proven track record. He’s not very good.

A decade ago the chief football writer at BBC Scotland was on the payroll of The Scotsman, their readers were last to discover that Craig Whyte wasn’t really a billionaire.

English was fully on board with Whyte, even the Daily Record had given up on their saviour from Motherwell but gullible Tom was still standing by his man.

With that sort of judgement it was no surprise that the state broadcaster offered English a salary to share his expertise.

At that time Celtic were in a strong position but it seemed that English shared the views of Peter Lawwell rather than Brendan Rodgers. Within a year of that tweet McGinn was scoring in the EPL while Celtic’s fortunes have been on a steady decline since Lawwell brought in Youssouf Mulumbu rather than the Hibs midfielder.

McGinn scored again for Scotland last night, his 11th goal in 39 matches. A far more impressive strike rate than English and his considered opinions on all matters relating to soccer.

Earlier this year BBC Scotland left their star man at home rather than send him to the Olympics in Japan or the Lions Tour of South Africa.

John is a very good player doing very well in the epl at present and Scotland, celtic would be a very different team if he had signed for us how liewell let this talent slipped thru because of his penny pinching ways he should have been sacked a player now worth around £30/40 million in epl leauge and when you see some of the duds he bought after John something just not right in his thinking maybe he did not know the agents John had as I have said on here liewell the agents friend ?????.
