Kyogo Furuhashi has been formally called up to the Japan squad for next week’s World Cup qualifiers.

The Celtic striker was missing when the squad was named at the start of the week but in his pre-match media conference for the match against Bayer Leverkusen Ange Postecoglou said that Kyogo would be going on international duty.

The mystery was solved last night when he returned to the Celtic line up against Leverkusen with two demanding internationals to be faced next week.

Celtic will be assessing the impact of last night’s appearance before preparing for Sunday’s match at Aberdeen.

There seemed little wrong with Kyogo’s fitness and movement with only an inspired performance from Lukas Hradecky denying him at least one goal on his return to action.

From having one striker a week ago Postecoglou now has three with Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis both coming off the bench in Celtic’s 4-0 defeat.
