Leigh Griffiths was missing from the Dundee side that lost 3-1 at St Johnstone today.

The on-loan Celtic striker was in the spotlight when the two teams met in the Premier Sports Cup 10 days ago with one incident resulting in action from Police Scotland and the SFA.

Last Saturday Griffiths was substituted before half time in the controversial defeat from Steven Gerrard’s side and failed to be included in today’s matchday squad.

Today’s defeat leaves Dundee in bottom place without a win as they go into the October international.

Afterwards James McPake slammed his players with BBC Scotland reporting him saying:

We need to use the international break to work on our defending, but we have defended well this season. The goals we gave away today, however, are ridiculous.

It’s easy to take the ball when you are 3-0 down as St Johnstone probably thought they already had the game won.

I am being critical. I’ll be the first to be positive if we have turned in a good performance. There’s a big couple of weeks coming up.

Griffiths played in three games over seven days with Dundee failing to score in either of them after the big build up of returning to Dens Park.

Next up for Dundee is a home match against Aberdeen on October 16, a week later Griffiths will be in for a hot reception when they travel to Tynecastle to take on Hearts.

Leigh Griffiths is injured. I saw him in David Lloyd Gym yesterday and actually spoke to him. He said he had an ankle knock, and did look to be hobbling a little

Had to laugh at the charges the Sevco Football Appreciation are bringing against him. These same charges should also be delivered to Sevco.
