Craig Moore expects the Ibrox board to hold on to Steven Gerrard despite alleged interest from Newcastle United.
In midweek a Saudi-backed group paid £300m to buy the club from Mike Ashley, at Ibrox it is believed that losses of £32m were incurred last season.
Once again Ross Wilson was unable to sell any players during the summer transfer window, coupled with losing to Malmo in the Champions League it suggests a long, bleak winter at Ibrox.
Steve Bruce seems to be on borrowed time with Gerrard being heavily punted as his successor by the Scottish media in a bid to keep his club relevant.
Time and time again efforts to drum up interest in Alfredo Morelos have resulted in absolutely nothing with attempts to promote Glen Kamara, Ryan Kent and James Tavernier meeting a similar fate.
Moore interprets the lack of interest in Gerrard’s squad as the board playing hardball- turning his thoughts to the Ibrox manager the former Australian international defender told the Daily Record:
I don’t know what Steven Gerrard’s career plan is but what I do know is that Rangers have managed to hold onto their star talent player wise.
That suggests to me that they still believe there is still a lot that can be achieved with this team under the main man, which is the manager.
So I don’t expect they will put themselves in a position where they keep their star players but lose their star manager. We’re only speculating on what is going to happen. The bookies don’t always get it right.
There is going to be many stories floating about about what Newcastle may potentially look to do in regards to signings and managers. That’s just normal with all the excitement round the club right now that the takeover has been completed.
But Steven Gerrard is doing a wonderful job at Rangers and I’m pretty sure he’s delighted with the way things are going.
Gerrard is expected to meet the hand-picked media on Friday where he will say that he is flattered by the interest but fully committed to making his side a force in Europe despite winning just one of six matches this season with Malmo twice, Lyon and Sparta Prague outsmarting the Liverpool legend.
Maybe Gimp will sign El Dunkeyo, TavPen, Goldhun & Baraprik & Newcastle will win the Chumpions League… Eeeee course!!
What about Scott arsefield…he’s my fav!
He’s a bright as my bumhole!!
That other cream bun McCarthys bit in the Record this morning was like
Please don’t go Stevie , please Stevie , please don’t go
So they spend over 300mill, they want the best of everything, the very best players, the very best backroom staff and of course the very best manager, so to that end the rangers can sleep soundly as there is no way they are going for a totally untested manager whose only trophy came as there only opposition imploded.
Scotland: Newcastle want Stevie G
Rest of the World: Newcastle want Conte
The new owners of Newcastle untd we are told worth around £250 billion which is a sovereign wealth will want only the best management team who have won big leauges champions leauge etc with great respect to the spl they won’t be looking at any of the managers there.but according to some bampot bigot fan the rangers would want £200 million for them to release stevvee geèe is he still playing football was a very good player 10 years ago when he also supported celtic we had a drink with him in seville 2003 with his celtic top on funny old world but now a good rangers man going back to untd hope the fans get everything they dream of now, a rotten out fit now own them but most fans don’t give a $hit where the money come from as long the club has success thats how most of the world is now.
