Celtic fans were furious over the second half booking of Cameron Carter Vickers.

Sure he did get up off the ground rapidly to defend himself but so would most players if they were twice kicked while on the deck. It seems that his reaction earned him a booking.

In the same incident Chris Kane also picked up a yellow card. His crime was to twice kick out at a grounded opponent then have his hand in Carter-Vickers face.

The incident happened in the 75th minute and certainly stirred things up with Celtic on course towards a routine 1-0 victory thanks to Giorgos Giakoumakis opening his account for the club.

Kane is a physical striker, there is no problem with that but after 75 minutes of being second best to the Celtic central defenders he clearly lost his discipline. Had Walsh been able to use VAR it is hard to see how the St Johnstone striker would have stayed on the park.

As it is the disciplinary records of Kane and Carter-Vickers from today’s match are identical with both players a booking closer to missing a match through suspension.
