Having a reliable penalty taker is a great asset for any team.
It isn’t something that Celtic have really had in recent seasons with a variety of players having mixed fortunes from the spot.
Against Ferencvaros Callum McGregor never looked confident as he prepared for his chance from 12 yards out. The Hungarian keeper guessed to his right and pushed the ball well away from goal.
Zander Clark was a St Johnstone hero at Ibrox earlier this year but didn’t get a look in yesterday when Josip Juranovic marked his return to the side with a goal.
Playing at left-back looks a little uncomfortable for the Croatian but when Kyogo Furuhashi was felled in the box there didn’t seem any doubt that the penalty was going into the net.
Nick Walsh had some clearing up to do, two St Johnstone players were booked but Juranovic held his focus, waited for his moment then confidently sent the ball into the net. 2-0 Celtic, game over and it looks like a penalty-taker has been found.
