Soon after the final whistle at Ibrox presenter Richard Gordon discussed the John Beaton penalty decision with Richard Forster at Ibrox.

The two men from Aberdeen were uncensored, they gave their honest opinions. An hour later James Faddy McFadden, Steven EBT Thompson and Shelley Jambo Kerr were all on message in the Sportscene studio. The contrast was vast.

Fashion Sakala fell to the ground without contact from David Bates. When a ball had been played into the box there was the usual contact between two players. For reasons known only to the Ibrox substitute he fell to the ground.

With a track record running from Govan to Bellshill and back again no-one was surprised at Beaton’s decision. Tav pen was always the outcome.

The lead at the top of the table is down to two points, the prize for the champions is likely to be at least £30m. Bearsden PE teacher Nick Walsh will referee Sunday’s match at Motherwell.

RF: Again, I’ve watched it now, I must have seen it 10 times and I’m not exactly sure what it is that I’m looking for. I don’t know what Bates has done, he just literally stood there (laughs). I’m bewildered, I don’t know.

RG: Wow

RF: Obviously you know, well you have a bit more in the fight than I do. That’s not a penalty, it’s simply not a penalty.

RG: Like I’m, I’ve been doing this long enough, I’m quite willing to be open and honest about anything and I certainly won’t be going crazy if I think that is a pen there is just no way that that is a penalty, there is nothing there. And what John Beaton has seen, goodness only knows. What you would say is that it is magnificently well taken by James Tavernier, no question.

I’ve also watched it many times and it’s scandalous!
Now is the time to speak up and all clubs to act as that is blatant match fixing…Beaton and all the bells hill crew must have had a score draw on their coupons as Tav to score anytime in a game is like free funny money, 1st bet always for them…cheating rotten refs!
