Tam McManus has taken a second look at Ryan Porteous’ brutal attack on Callum McGregor and admitted that it looks poor.

The challenge early in the second half of Wednesday’s match left the Celtic skipper with two brutal gashes on his leg with only shin-pads saving him from serious injury.

Porteous was making his return to action following a two match suspension after being red carded at Ibrox.

Referee Don Robertson could hardly have had a better view of Wednesday’s flashpoint but unlike Nick Walsh at Ibrox decided against sending the defender off.

During commentary on Hibs TV the suggestion from McManus was that Porteous was a marked man by referees but after a second look he saw things differently.

Like team-mate Alex Gogic it would appear that Robertson was very lenient with his punishments on the night, if Porteous had been sent off there could have been no complaints.

McGregor was able to complete the match, afterwards Ange Postecglou never commented on the incident.
