Tom Rogic took a crumb of consolation from Australia’s World Cup defeat to Japan- the player doing the damage will be a team-mate at the weekend.

Kyogo Furuhashi came off the bench on the hour mark with one opponent knowing better than any other Australian that the little striker possessed.

Rogic saw the impact that Kyogo made with seven goals for Celtic during August- and the gap created when he was missing after being injured at the start of September.

The midfielder had been substituted when his club team-mate panicked Aziz Behich into putting the ball into his own net to give Japan full points.

It was a badly needed win for the home side who had lost two of their first three matches while the Socceroos had taken full points, later on Tuesday Saudi Arabia moved clear at the top of the group with four wins out of four following their 3-2 home win over China.

The Celtic duo will be hitting the Air Miles again next month with Vietnam and China among their destinations.
