Two words- Chris Sutton reacts as Scottish football moves towards VAR

Chris Sutton isn’t quite on board the VAR bus that is on its way to Scottish football.

The former Celtic striker has spent many media hours battling over certain decisions which could soon be cleared up with a Video referee watching over every incident.

VAR came on the scene at the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia and was quickly embraced by major leagues such as the EPL.

Scottish football has seemed reluctant to take it on board but with systems in place at Europa League matches at Celtic Park and Ibrox the excuses are wearing very thin.

Today the SFA hosted a meeting with Premiership clubs that seems to have taken the project further forward but there is still no timeline for the first VAR decisions in the Scottish game.

Who makes the remote decisions will be one of the big issues but with a maximum of six matches at any one time it shouldn’t be difficult to cover all fixtures from existing and recently retired referees.
