Albian Ajeti has brushed off criticism from Ramon Vega with the classic ‘who are ya’ line.

The striker has returned to the Swiss international squad after a year in the wilderness with not everyone thrilled by his call up.

Three goals against Ross County and Real Betis hinted that Ajeti could recapture his Basel form of three seasons ago but he has failed to build on those goals with Kyogo Furuhashi going straight back into the Celtic side.

Ramon Vega was critical of the decision to recall the Celtic striker but after the struggles of the last two seasons the comments of a former internationalist aren’t going to upset the former West Ham striker.

Swiss publication Blick reports:

Blick confronts Ajeti with the statement of the Celtic legend and only creates great serenity. “Ramon Vega? Who is that?” Asks Ajeti teasingly, but then answers seriously. “That is his opinion, but he doesn’t make the lineup, so I’m less interested.”

The attack by Vega seems to roll off harmlessly on the eleven international. “We have to deal with criticism. This is football. That’s part of it. I can live with it. Of course things can always go better, but I fight and do my best.”

It is a bit of a stretch to describe Vega as a Celtic legend but he certainly had an impressive career at club and international level.

Stints at Cagliari, Spurs and Celtic followed on from breaking through at Grasshoppers where he played in the Champions League. His 23 Swiss caps included matches at the European Championships in 1996. In 18 Celtic appearances Vega managed to win all three domestic trophies.
