Davie Provan believes that Nathan Patterson could attract a £20m bid in the January transfer window.

The former Celtic winger is normally one of the more level-headed pundits but he seems to have lost the plot over a 20-year-old that has started FOUR SPFL matches in his entire career.

Previous Ibrox starlets like Ross McCrorie, John Fleck, Danny Wilson and Lewis MacLeod have been subjected to incredible hype but the Patterson speculation is on another level entirely.

Backed by the SFA happy to hand him four international caps a bidding frenzy is being built up over a guy that can’t shift James Tavernier to get a regular game.

Everton have been strongly linked to Patterson but in the summer they spent a total of £1.8m on players following the arrival of Rafa Benitez. That fee went on Demarai Gray from Bayern Leverkusen but now it seems they are set to spend more than ten times that amount on an understudy to Seamus Coleman.

Speaking to Go-Radio, official media partners at Ibrox, Provan explained the Patterson valuation.

I think Rangers finances are out there in the public and Rangers need to sell some players to get some money in. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Nathan Patterson is away in the window.

I think if the money’s right, it would have to be a hell of an offer. They’ve [Everton] got the money. I think if you’re looking at Nathan Patterson, I think you’re looking at 20 million pounds. I really do.

I think Kieran Tierney was more experienced and proved himself in the Champions League etc and Celtic got £25m and I think if you look at the potential of Nathan Patterson, I think you’re starting off at £20 million for that boy.
