What Should Celtic Expect This Season?

It hasn’t been the most successful of eras for Celtic, as anyone who’s been following the side in recent years will attest. After an utterly unforgettable 2020/2021 season, which saw the hoops drift an unacceptable distance away from their cross-city rivals, the club — and more importantly, the fans — will have been hoping for a much better season this time around.

Of course, expectations were modest. But things have been recalibrated a little following the shoots of hope that sprung after the appointment of Ange Postecoglou. The end of Neil Lennon’s tenure was grim, for sure, but Ange Postecoglou has bought a breath of fresh air that has Celtic fans dreaming of what just might be possible.

A Title Charge?

There is, rightly, plenty of hype surrounding Postecoglou and what he might achieve with Celtic. Indeed, you have to imagine that it won’t be too long before he brings the title back to Celtic Park. But will it be this year? It’s possible. They’re outsiders, sure, but it’s pretty tight at the top of the table — and for this reason, faithful fans and people using free bet offers might just back them to win. After all, Steven Gerrard’s have not been all that impressive this campaign. And unless they begin performing at a high level soon, there’ll be an opening for another team to clinch the title. And of all the sides to do it, Celtic would look the most likely.

Europa League Progress

Celtic are obviously huge outsiders to lift the Europa League trophy. But the ride can be just as much fun as the destination when the Bhoys are on tour. The group stage hasn’t been too kind to the side just yet. A 4-3 defeat to Real Betis was followed by a 4-0 drubbing by Leverkusen. They did win their game against Ferencvárosi TC with a great performance, however. With three games to go in the Europa League group stage, Celtic might just be quietly confident that they can make it to the knockout rounds. And if that occurs, who knows what stories might just be written?

On the Up

All in all, this season is likely to be one marked by transition more than anything else. The club were in pretty dire straits not so many months ago, so it’s pleasing to see that things seem to be moving in the right direction. For now, let’s just enjoy the good energy that’s surrounding Celtic Park.
