Celtic’s B side wore down the resistance of Cumbernauld Colts to record a 2-0 win at Broadwood thanks to goals from Owen Moffat and Bruno Davidson.

With some internationalists back there was a more recognisable look to the Celtic side with Bosun Lawal and Dane Murray teamed up in central defence. Rocco Vata played at centre forward in front of Ben Wylie with Moffat on the left flank and Davidson switched to the right.

Cumbernauld were content to sit back, much like Gretna 08 in Celtic’s last outing with goalkeeper Tobi Oluwayemi a spectator .

Celtic got off to the perfect start in the second minute, catching their hosts cold. Bruno Davidson cut in from the right flank, fired across the face of goal with Moffat sliding in to net from close range.

Despite the breakthrough Celtic struggled to build on the early breakthrough with Tommy McIntyre’s side restricted to a few long range shots and hopeful crosses fired into the penalty area.

The second half followed the same pattern as the opening 45 minutes with Cumbernauld organised at the back and Celtic struggling to break through the lines.

Just before the hour mark a quick Celtic move created an opening for Davidson who found the net with a diagonal shot from 15 yards out.

There ws no further scoring with the points collected against stuffy opponents on a plastic pitch.
