Andrew Dallas makes his SPFL Premiership return

Andrew Dallas takes charge of his first Premiership match in almost a year when he referees Wednesday’s match between Dundee and St Johnstone.

The Lanarkshire based official has only refereed three matches this season but appears to be getting fast tracked into the top flight in time for the lucrative December fixture list.

Andrew, son of shamed former SFA Head of Refereeing Hugh, last refereed at the Queen of the South v Morton match on October 23 but will be in charge at Dens Park tomorrow night. This season the SFA have been topping up his earnings with a number of fourth official appointments such as at Livingston on Sunday.

Last season Dallas was in charge of three of Celtic’s first eight away SPFL matches before he was struck down with a sore leg, famously missing St Mirren’s League Cup win over Steven Gerrard’s side during which stand-in referee David Dickinson awarded the Saints a penalty.

John Beaton will referee the match at Easter Road on Wednesday with Bobby Madden getting his fourth SPFL match involving Celtic when Andy Halliday brings his Hearts team-mates to Celtic Park.
