Ange Postecoglou has absolutely no intention of working alongside a Director of Football at Celtic.
Since the turn of the year there has been an assumption among many supporters that such a role would be created to coordinate all areas of the club from the Academy and youth teams through to recruitment and scouting.
The departures of Nicky Hammond and Peter Lawwell left a big gap in transfer dealings but it seems that Postecoglou and Dom McKay worked in tandem during the summer transfer window with Michael Nicholson in at the sharp end of negotiating deals to completion.
Nicholson has taken over as acting CEO with no obvious sign of the club looking to bring in a new face which suggests that the club will complete January transfer activities with the current set up.
For reasons best known to himself Gaby Antoniazzi of PLZ Football felt that appointing a Director of Football was discussed at Wednesday’s AGM, he was quickly put straight on that notion by the Celtic manager.

Question. Just on yesterday’s AGM Michael Nicholson was saying that the pair of you were was working to get a Director of Football in place. I just wonder what influence you have over that and if you do, you know, any preference, any specific type of style you want from a Director.
I don’t think that’s, unless you went to a different AGM I don’t think that that is what Michael said that we are looking at a Director of Football.
What he did say was is that we are looking, we are looking to restructure the football department. We are looking at all areas. Yeah I’m very involved in that because ultimately the structure has to sort of fit in with what we are trying to build here.
For us, the key to that is, for Michael and I is to get the right people in. I don’t think that he mentioned Director of Football, I certainly haven’t mentioned Director of Football, its not something that is in our minds. In our minds is to get certain people in certain areas that we think needs bolstering in this organisation.
